The ND-1 offers multiple digital inputs, including optical, coaxial, AES/EBU, IIS-LVDS, and USB Type-B and Type-C.

It can connect simultaneously to smartphones, tablets, and computers. Electrical isolation on all digital inputs blocks interference and ground loop noise for stable and pure audio transmission.

Dual-Engine Core

The ND-1 uses AKM’s flagship chipset: the AK4191 delta-sigma modulator with dual AK4499EX DAC chips.

The AK4191 handles digital processing and reclocking, while each AK4499EX converts one audio channel. This design reduces jitter, improves channel separation, and delivers excellent dynamic range and signal-to-noise performance.

True to Your Ear

A custom ultra-low phase noise femtosecond clock provides accurate timing for D/A conversion.

The ND-1 also supports an external reference clock. When paired with the Matrix Audio SC-1 Reference Clock, it can reveal greater detail, dynamics, and clarity.

More Than Compatible

The ND-1 includes both XLR and RCA analog outputs with selectable levels:

RCA 2 Vrms / XLR 4 Vrms
RCA 2.25 Vrms / XLR 4.5 Vrms

This allows proper matching with amplifiers or active speakers for optimal gain and dynamics.

A 100-step digital volume control also allows the DAC to connect directly to power amplifiers or active speakers.

PCM Resampling & DSD Conversion

The ND-1 includes asynchronous upsampling and DSD conversion.

Resampling reduces jitter and improves detail, while the DSD converter can transform playback into DSD for richer sound. Users can adjust PCM and DSD settings to explore different sound characteristics.

One DAC, Two Worlds

The ND-1 uses Lundahl precision transformers in its output stage.

A timbre switching function lets users choose between two sound styles. Transformer Mode delivers a warm, analog-like character, while Op-Amp Mode offers faster, clearer, and more precise sound.

Source of Purity

The ND-1 separates digital and analog circuits on different PCB layers to reduce interference.

Power comes from a multi-winding toroidal transformer and multiple LDO regulators, providing clean and stable power to every circuit stage.

The ND-1 features the MA-DAMPER PRO isolation system developed with Audio Bastion.

Its multi-layer structure helps absorb vibration and external interference. When used with the Matrix Audio TEMPO DX Rack, it forms a complete vibration control solution.
